This guide will demonstrate how to duplicate a file or folder using the cPanel File Manager. Occasionally, while constructing a website, you may require a duplicate copy of a file or folder. Fortunately, the File Manager in cPanel has a feature that allows you to effortlessly copy files or folders to another location on your server.

Fun fact: Access to cPanel is not always freely available with all hosting providers. InMotion, on the other hand, offers this feature as one of the many benefits of our diverse web hosting packages.

Copying a File

  1. Log into cPanel.
  2. Click File Manager in the Files section of cPanel.
  3. In the File Manager select the file you want to make a copy of.
  4. Click the Copy button.
  5. A box will pop up, enter the location you want to copy the file to then click the Copy File(s) button. A copy of your file or folder will then be made in your selected location. You can confirm it is a new copy by checking the Last Modified date.

Congratulations, now you know how to copy a file in your CPanel’s File Manager!
